SUMMARY OF 1100 AM AST...1500 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- LOCATION...20.3N 39.9W ABOUT 1085 MI...1745 KM WNW OF THE CABO VERDE ISLANDS MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS...40 MPH...65 KM/H PRESENT MOVEMENT...WNW OR 290 DEGREES AT 13 MPH...20 KM/H MINIMUM CENTRAL PRESSURE...1004 MB...29.65 INCHES WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect. DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Rene was located near latitude 20.3 North, longitude 39.9 West. Rene is moving toward the west-northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue today followed by a turn toward the northwest on Saturday and a turn toward the north-northwest with decreasing forward speed on Sunday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Some restrengthening is forecast during the next day or two, but weakening is expected to begin by Sunday night. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
