DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Rene was located near latitude 26.8 North, longitude 47.6 West. The depression is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). A slower northwestward motion is expected by tonight. By late Monday through Tuesday, the system is forecast to move southwestward. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Rene should slowly weaken over the next couple of days and is forecast to become a remnant low on Monday.
