GASTON IS MOVING TOWARD THE NORTHEAST NEAR 18 MPH AND THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE FOR THE NEXT 24 HOURS WITH A GRADUAL INCREASE IN FORWARD SPEED. MAXIMUM SUSTAINED WINDS ARE NEAR 40 MPH... 65 KM/HR...WITH HIGHER GUSTS. LITTLE CHANGE IN STRENGTH IS FORECAST DURING THE NEXT 24 HOURS. TROPICAL STORM FORCE WINDS EXTEND OUTWARD UP TO 50 MILES...MAINLY TO THE SOUTHEAST THE CENTER OVER THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. THE CHESAPEAKE LIGHT C-MAN STATION RECENTLY REPORTED A 10-MINUTE SUSTAINED WIND OF 49 MPH WITH A GUST TO 56 MPH AT A HEIGHT OF ABOUT 140 FT. A SHIP ABOUT 40 MILES SOUTHEAST OF THE MOUTH OF THE CHESAPEAKE BAY RECENTLY REPORTED A SUSTAINED WIND OF 40 MPH.
