At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Nine was
located near latitude 16.3 North, longitude 45.3 West. The
depression is moving toward the northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h), and
this general motion is expected to continue for the next couple of
days.

Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.
Some weakening is expected during the next couple of days, and the
depression could degenerate to a remnant low pressure area by
Saturday.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
