DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Gaston was located near latitude 28.4 North, longitude 53.2 West. Gaston is moving toward the northwest near 10 mph (17 km/h), and this motion accompanied by a gradual decrease in forward speed is expected during the next couple of days. Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours, and Gaston is expected to become a hurricane later today. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 995 mb (29.39 inches).
