At 500 AM AST (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Ian was
located near latitude 29.3 North, longitude 53.0 West. Ian is moving
toward the north near 15 mph (24 km/h), and this general motion is
expected to continue through tonight. A turn to the northeast with
a significant increase in forward speed is forecast to occur on
Thursday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher
gusts. Some strengthening is forecast during the next 48 hours.

Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 230 miles (370 km)
from the center.

The estimated minimum central pressure is 998 mb (29.47 inches).
