DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM AST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Chantal was located near latitude 36.6 North, longitude 40.8 West. The depression is moving toward the south-southeast near 7 mph (11 km/h) and it is expected to make a slow clockwise loop during the next few days. Maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph (45 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast, and Chantal is likely to degenerate into a remnant low by tonight. The remnant low could dissipate by late Sunday or Monday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1012 mb (29.89 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- None.
