Issued at 1029 PM EST Wed Nov 20 2024 Despite the lack of measurable rainfall seen across the island chain over the past few hours, it has still been quite an interesting evening across the Florida Keys forecast area. Just ahead of a cold front draped across South Florida, a small area of low pressure developed and has traveled down the southern portion of the west coast of Florida. This mesolow initially moved into the outer SE Gulf waters, and has now broadened across the eastern part of the Keys. While rain has remained limited with this low and the prefrontal trough, winds have picked up a few knots since this afternoon and breezy conditions are prevailing in at least the Lower Keys. Shallow showers will continue to move across the Florida Keys for the next few hours, however measurable rainfall will be hard to come by due to their fast, isolated nature. The front itself will move across the island chain overnight, and winds will veer to the northwest to north in its wake. After the frontal boundary`s passage, dew points will start to gradually decrease as a modified continental airmass is ushered in by a blast of strong northerlies. Thanks to the warmer water temperatures, winds aloft will likely be able to mix down a little easier. Breezy conditions will likely extend across the remainder of the island chain through tomorrow morning. Since the front is moving through overnight, there is a chance that the midnight temperature may actually be the high for the day tomorrow. && .MARINE... Issued at 1029 PM EST Wed Nov 20 2024 A Small Craft Advisory is in effect for all Florida Keys coastal waters. A cold front will sweep through the Florida Keys and surrounding coastal waters overnight. Winds will shift from the west, becoming northwest to north and freshening in the wake the cold front passage. Moderate to fresh northwest to northerly breezes will continue through the remainder of the week, with considerable diurnal speed variations. High pressure will march eastward through the Gulf Coast states this weekend resulting in winds relaxing and veering northeast to east northeasterly. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 1029 PM EST Wed Nov 20 2024 A few weak showers may linger near mainly MTH for the next few hours, with intermittent MVFR CIGS possible. A cold front will push through overnight, and winds will pick further in its wake. Gusts will reach near 20 knots, with occasional gusts of 20 to 25 knots. This will cause issues with crosswinds since winds will be out of the northwest to north. && .CLIMATE...
