AFDKEY Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Key West FL 1027 PM EST Wed Jan 29 2025 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE, AVIATION... .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1013 PM EST Wed Jan 29 2025 Currently - Surface winds are light and mostly out of the northeast to east this evening due to weak ridging stretching from the Southeastern United States, through Florida, and eastward through the Bahamas. This evenings sounding indicated limited boundary layer moisture and a couple of low inversions, the lowest of which is only several hundred feat up. As a result, Doppler radar has been free of precipitation, only depicting noisy AP. After day time highs in the mid 70s, temperatures have retreated into the mid 60s with dew points broadly in the lower 60s. Short Term Update - The surface ridge will shift eastward a bit overnight. As a result, expect surface winds to strengthen slightly, remaining largely northeast to east. While some locations may be able to radiate down into the lower 60s, most island locations will not move much lower than current readings. Dew points will remain broadly in the lower to mid 60s. Stable conditions will continue with forecast soundings indicating lower level moisture will remain lacking and very low inhibition holding strong. && .MARINE...
